25-Year-Old Amazon China SDE Arrested for Arson and Murder
Seattle police have identified a suspect in connection with a fire that killed a 72-year-old woman in Wallingford. The suspect, a 25-year-old man, appeared in court Friday afternoon.
Letian Shi (pseudonym) was captured on multiple Ring doorbell cameras near the home of Susan Klee. Prosecutors said Shi was also seen on surveillance footage at a Dick's Drive-In restaurant. Shi's attorney argued the images were too blurry to confirm identification, but prosecutors pushed for high bail.
"The state requests $4 million. Mr. Shi is a national of another country and is here on a student visa," a King County prosecutor stated. Judge Jill Klinge agreed and set bail at $4 million, also ordering Shi to surrender all passports.
Shi is due back in court Monday afternoon.
